The Chacocente Wildlife Refuge is in the middle of one of the most important remaining dry tropical forests of Central America. Between July and January, its 12 kilometer beach is one of the nine places in the world where hundreds of Olive Ridley Turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) lay their eggs. After one month, thousands of little turtles emerge from their nest and make the race for survival towards the ocean. Both natural events are spectacles well worth seeing.
